Roger D. Welch, M.H.A., was selected for the position of Associate Director for the Alexandria VA Medical Center effective January 21, 2007.
Before his current assignment, he served as the Deputy Network Director for the Veterans Integrated Service Network 7 (VISN 7) from April 4, 2004 to January 21, 2007.
Mr. Welch began his VA career at the Long Beach VA Medical Center, California, where he served as Director of the VA/California State University, Long Beach Joint Studies Institute and Staff Assistant to the Medical Center Director. He later held the position of Executive Assistant to the Medical Center Director at the Jerry L. Pettis VA Memorial Medical Center in Loma Linda, California. He then went on to serve as a Senior Staff Advisor to the VISN 12 Network Director, and was subsequently appointed to the position of Associate Director for Operations at the Central Alabama Veterans Health Care System. Prior to entering healthcare administration, he worked in the field of respiratory care for about 12 years in capacities of increasing responsibility.
Mr. Welch received his Master of Healthcare Administration Degree and Bachelor of Science Degree from Indiana University. He is a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives.
