Hollis T. Reed, M.D. was appointed Chief of Staff of the Alexandria VA Medical Center, Alexandria, Louisiana, effective February 23, 2003.

Dr. Reed is the Specialty Care Health Care Line Director, Chief, Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery for the VA Medical Center, serves as a Consultant for Huey P. Long Memorial Hospital, Pineville, Louisiana and is an instructor in Advanced Cardiac Life Support for the American Heart Association.

Dr. Reed received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Agriculture from the University of Arkansas in 1968, Master of Science, University of Arkansas in 1970, and in 1976, Doctor of Medicine from Tulane University in New Orleans, Louisiana. He became board certified from the American Board of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery in 1981. Dr. Reed recently completed his Masters in Strategic Studies in 2000.

He is a member of several professional organizations and his work has appeared in numerous publications. Dr. Reed has held previous appointments with Charity Hospital, Tulane Medical Center, and Children's Hospital of New Orleans; Lallie Kemp Charity Hospital, Independence, Louisiana; South Louisiana Medical Center, Houma, Louisiana; Gorgas Army Hospital, Panama Canal Zone; Bayne-Jones Army Hospital, Fort Polk, Louisiana and St. Francis Cabrini Hospital, Alexandria, Louisiana.

Dr. Reed was born in Monticello, Arkansas in 1946. He is a United States Army veteran and has served on active duty in Vietnam and Desert Storm. He is still very much involved with the U.S. Army as an active reservist. He is married to Tommie Ann Oberley Reed , and they have three children.
